Disney Cruise Line Themed Cruises
A voyage with Disney Cruise Line already includes so much! On any Disney cruise, you will find some of the largest standard cabins of any cruise line, great food, awesome kids’ clubs, and stellar entertainment! Something you may not be aware of is that you can also find great adults only areas on each Disney ship! The specialty restaurants Palo and Remy make a great date night for couples and of course your kids will have plenty to keep them occupied while you dine.
The Quiet Cove Pool means you won’t be getting splashed by kiddos (only your spouse) and several, adult exclusive, nightclubs and lounges means a great time for every adult! You can choose to spend all your time with the entire family, take a little adult time here and there during the voyage, or if you didn’t bring any kids with you, no worries, from beverage tastings to spa treatments, you won’t be bored! On Disney Cruise Line there is no separate beverage package you need to purchase just to get soda and quality coffee & tea, those are already included with your cruise fare! With excellent service and so much already included what does Disney do to make their cruise line truly stand out from everyone else? They bring your cruise experience to a whole new level with Marvel Super Heroes, Star Wars characters, and cruises themed to the holidays!
On Marvel Day at Sea cruises you still get great destinations to enjoy, all the usual onboard activities, but so much more! Reserve a time for a photo shoot with Iron Man, Spider-Man or Black Panther! There are several Marvel heroes on board that you will be able to interact with while on the ship; Captain America, Thor, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Loki to name a few. If, like me, you are a Guardians of the Galaxy fan, Star-Lord, Gamora and Groot also make appearances.
Captain Marvel has now been spotted as well! My family loves the Marvel movies. After 22 movies, the characters are endeared to us and having the chance to play and immerse ourselves in this world is a great opportunity for a unique vacation experience. Imagine walking along the decks of the ship and running into Thor! You can even dress up as your favorite characters if you really want to take it up a notch. The younger ones in the family (ages 3-12) will delight in the Heroes-in-training experience at Disney’s Oceaneer Club. Marvel heroes will be on hand to help them find the super hero inside each of them. The Marvel theme doesn’t end with character meets and photo ops. On a Marvel day at Sea you will find the theme throughout the ship. There is a big show on deck where the heroes unite, Dr. Strange takes you on a journey in the Mystic arts and adults can enjoy the Ravagers night club!
The kid’s clubs will have lots of Marvel themed activities like craft making and games. And just in case you’re wondering, Mickey and his friends are still on board to enjoy the Marvel fun right along with you! Marvel is definitely the key word on these cruises, but you can still meet Mickey, Minnie and many of their friends on your voyage. You will find lots of added activities that enhance your Marvel day at Sea experience, but do not require additional money.
Again, I love how much is included in your cruise fare with Disney! Marvel 101 is an interactive Super Hero session to help you learn (or remember) more about the Marvel universe. Enjoy some family trivia to test your knowledge, watch the newest Marvel movies inside the Buena Vista Theater, or take an animation academy class to learn how to draw some of your favorite Marvel characters! The animation class is really fun and one of those things that feel like an “extra” but is included in your cruise fare! Marvel Day at Sea cruises depart from Miami, FL are 5-night sailings and they all stop at Disney’s Castaway Cay, a private island where you can spend the day on a gorgeous beach with lots of fun activities, or just enjoy the sun, sand and amazing view! Let one of our cruise specialists help you find the perfect itinerary for your family to assemble! Okay, I had to say that!
Star Wars fans are not left out! Disney offers a wonderful cruise catering to Star Wars fans with Star Wars Day at Sea! These 7-night cruises depart from Port Canaveral and offer unique opportunities to cruise with some of your favorite characters from Star Wars! Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO and Darth Vader are available to meet and take photos with you. I grew up with Star Wars and I still love getting a hug from Chewy! Other characters that you may run into while walking on deck are Boba Fett, the Stormtroopers, and the Jawas.
You may even see some rebels like Sabine, Ezra and Ahsoka Tano. Again, the younger cruise guests (3-12) will have lots of Star Wars themed activities in the Oceaneer Club like Star Wars Resistance Base, an adventure game where younglings (Jedi in training) use puzzle solving to defend against the first order! They will also get a visit from BB-8 escorted by a pilot looking for recruits that want to join the Rebels. Star Wars fans just get it. You can’t help but be charmed by BB-8! R2-D2 will always be my favorite droid, but BB-8 is a close second!
The Star Wars show on board is sensational and features Rey along with many other characters as well as the powerful music from the movies. Fireworks set to Star Wars music is a highlight! One of my favorite things to do at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is watch my son, along with other kids train to be a Jedi. Now, everyone can enjoy this fun activity on a cruise ship! Watch as they train with a Jedi Master to use their lightsabers and the force, then cheer them on when they battle with Darth Vader and Kylo Ren! Jedi training is one of my youngest sons’ fondest memories of our vacations. It’s another one of those things that feels like an “extra” or “add on” experience, but no extra charge!
There are many Star Wars themed activities to enjoy during your voyage for kids and adults. Take the Star Wars drawing academy class to learn to draw Yoda, BB-8, Darth Vader, or other characters. There are family trivia games on this cruise and a Star Wars 101 class to help you brush up on your Star Wars knowledge before playing. Even the biggest fan may need a refresher for such an epic story that spans so many years!
As we get a little older, and watch our kids grow up, I think movies, characters and experiences that are this memorable will always bring us back together for reminiscing and enjoying time together.
If instead of counting down the days to the next big movie, you are counting down to Halloween and Christmas, there are themed cruises for you too! Disney does themed cruises that make celebrating the holidays on a cruise ship an experience you will always remember! Halloween on the High Seas, and Very Merrytime cruises are extremely popular and I can see why!
Some of the experiences you can expect that are unique to the Very Merrytime cruises, are Mickey’s tree lighting magic ceremony, Santa Claus meet and greet, story time with Mrs. Claus, and a life size gingerbread house! The gingerbread house is made from edible ingredients, but you will have to resist the urge to take a bite out of it!
